Cod fishing on Stellwagen Bank has been excellent this fall due to good numbers of cood and pollack both on and East of the bank. B-Fast will have at least one vessel fishing all winter and will employ five vessels for the spring run. 8-15# fish have been rule with pool winners in the 20-30# class. One vessel this fall had a banner day, returning with three cod over 50#. The N.E. Regional Fisheries Council has closed commercial codfishing for February, March and April, 1999. This should positively impact the fishery and recreational charter fishing.
