Captain Dave Hanson has been fishing off Bonita Beach at the GH Reef, off Lely Barefoot Beach, 10-15 miles west of Wiggins Pass in north Naples, and 8-16 miles off south Naples this week. His clients, the Ingols family from PA caught keeper lane and mangrove snapper, a 15 inch mutton snapper, porkfish, and jack cravalle to 18 inches, using live shrimp on light spinning tackle. The Guercio party from Miami fished 13 miles off Wiggins, and caught keeper red grouper, keeper mangrove and yellowtail snapper, triggerfish to 14 inches, porkfish, grunts, and a 25 inch Spanish mackerel. They also had fun hooking and fighting a 5 foot barracuda! The Dick Heimlich party fished off Lely Barefoot Beach and off south Naples: They caught keeper lane snapper, limited on keeper mangrove snapper, throwing back 20 extras, to 17 inches, red grouper, triggerfish, an 80 pound nurse shark, a 40 inch barracuda (and lost one 5 foot long, and another 50 pounder); they also caught a 19 inch permit, and lost a 30 incher, and caught and released a 140 pound jewfish.
